"You will unite or you will fall."
12-30-04--"Whatever you did, you've been officially labled a disturber of the peace." If you came in from the entrance page, you will see I did some major modifications to the layout. All the LOTR sites I really like use 2 or more tables, so I thought "Why not?" It seems much busier now and it doesn't have the same calm feel to it, but oh well. I might change the music or just remove it. I love the new forum I joined - The White Shores. The webmaster is nice and there are some interesting people there. Wow, tomorrow is the last day of 2004! I hope next year is better. 2004 got rather wacky towards the end. I'm not sad to see it's passing. Ai! laurië lantar lassi súrinen, Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind, yéni únótimë ve rámar aldaron! long years numberless as the wings of trees! Yéni ve lintë yuldar avánier The long years have passed like swift draughts mi oromardi lissë-miruvóreva of the sweet mead in lofty halls... Westu hál! |
12-29-04--"They run as if the very whips of their masters were behind them!" Greetings fellow denizens of Middle Earth. I joined some new toplists, I have found many European ones in my surfing of the internet. I joined a new forum which I really like The White Shores and I found a wonderful site called War of the Ring that has news, reviews, pics, forums, you name it! I am also constantly adding new links here and here, so check them ever so often if you're looking for some interesting places to go. I want to have a huge compilation of links for me and to share with you, dear readers. I need to work on my other sites, I've only updated 6 of them out of 15. I'm slacking! lol All need new layouts or some such thing so I'm off to work on those. TTYL little Shirelings. Westu hál! |
12-26-04--"Young Master Gandalf. I'm glad you've come." I got an award in my email today from The Fantasy Farm. =) I made an Site Awards page which then necessitated my adjusting the links table. Joined a new toplist Neptune's Childe Top 100. I watched all 4 discs of ROTK EE this morning. *happy sigh* The documentary tribute to that young film maker was so beautiful and poignant. *sniff* I'm starting over with FOTR today. All those sad good byes made me long for Hobbiton. Stay safe. Westu hál! |
12-26-04--"You young rascals! A merry hunt you've led us on and now we find you...feasting...and smoking!" Wo0t! I got a dvd player and the ROTK EE for Christmas! I've watched it twice so far and the EE is amazing. I love the little details that flesh out the story. The mouth of Sauron made me giggle though. Creepy. Billy & Dom are so funny in the interviews. I started watching the EE with the cast commentary on this morning but I fell asleep! I'll watch it again in a bit. Viggo looks postively edible in the interviews. I wanted him under my tree as Aragorn for Christmas, but no go. Ah well. Hope everyone had a lovely xmas, I sure did! Westu hál! |
12-23-04--"Why did you look? Why do you always have to look?" Because! I had to work on my other sites and as I was looking for adoptions, I made a new friend. :) She also gave me a nifty little script which prevents right clicking AND prevents people from dragging graphics to the toolbar and stealing them that way. My other friend's toplist was hacked my some nimblenort named NeverEverNoSanity WebWorm generation 19. What kills me is these jerks are proud of what they've done. They don't care that my friend has to rebuild her list. I had one of my sites hacked before, it was devastating! Freaking hackers. On a lighter note, visit my new clique The Heart of a Hobbit Beats Within. It's for all you Hobbit wannabes like myself. Westu hál! |
12-19-04--"You know the laws of our country, the laws of your father, if you let them go your life will be forfeit." Oh my! Remember the question I had before? Who is the man in Ithilien in TTT who tells Faramir his life will be forfeit and who is killed when the Orcs attack by boat? What's his name?? Anyone, Bueller, anyone? I found the answer! His name is Madril. He is a ranger of Ithilien and is Faramir's right-hand man. He gallantly leads a company of rangers into battle. He is a veteran of fighting in the forests and has successfully defeated many cunning orc commanders, but he cannot outsmart Gothmog, lieutenant of Minas Morgul, and is killed by him by a spear in the chest after suffering a head wound and a blow to the abdomen. Madril is played by Welsh actor John Bach on TTT and ROTK. ![]() Thanks to Madril Fan Club for the info! Westu hál! |
12-18-04--"We swears to serve the master of the precious. We will swear on...the precious!" Busy busy busy. I revamped the index page to cut loading time and added One Ring to rule them all Webring as most of the LOTR webrings I found are inactive or gone. Please read the rules and Join! Westu hál! |
12-16-04 - 1:40 am--"Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?" Once again I find myself in my dark, cozy LOTR site. I live here when I'm online. My son is home now, so I can't watch my movies anymore. Well at least not like I have been. I'm going through withdrawal already. So I am here, the next best place. I added some more Links, added titles to the text links on page 1, which I will do to the rest of the pages shortly and put a different better no-right click script on each page. I hope you like my little haven on the web. Many LOTR sites are bright and beautiful, mine is dark and I'd like to think mystical. I just hope you can remember the movie and get a feel for it while you are here. Have a good Thursday! I'm back. I added more LOTR Snowglobes. I love virtual snowglobes, I know the are heavy loading, but they are so pretty! I'm still puttering around adding things and playing with html. Westu hál! |
12-15-04 - 12:25 am--"My love, my own, my precious." Wow, I've been working on this site all day! I added LOTR Quizzes and worked on every single page fine tuning and tweaking html. I need to rest my weary eyeballs before they become melded to the monitor. Have a good hump day! 10:10 pm.--I joined some listings: The Official Peter Jackson Fanclub, scholar-the fanlisting for the author John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, LORE : the History of Middle-Earth Fanlisting, The Precious-the official fanlisting for THE ONE RING, Journey's-the approved fanlisting for Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Book) and Hobbit Dreams-the hobbit fanlisting. |
12-14-04--"Not idly do the leaves of Lorien fall." New stuff: today I added a Survey, some Adoptions, One Ring Top Sites and redid my style css. Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-12-04--"Of all the inquisitive Hobbits, Peregrin Took, you are the worst." Ok, I give up on an answer to my question. *sigh* I just know the man is important because his death is shown. And he talks to Faramir the most in Ithilien. Ah well. I wish someone who knows the books well could watch the movies with me and explain some things. None of my offline friends understand this obsession. My friend Sheila asked me how can I watch them over and over, she'd get sick of them. Well, not me. I get lost in the story and forget about life sucking for a while. I notice things, understanding dawns and it's just an awesome way to kill time. I was also wondering when human beings started cooking. When did we figure out cooking makes food better? I'm going to do some research and find out. It seems like we always have cooked but I'm sure some historian can pinpoint the age when we started. Time to check out the Obsessors Forum again. Have a good Sunday, oh denizens of Middle Earth! Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-10-04--One Ring rotation I started a button rotation for LOTR sites because I couldn't find one! Go here to join. I'm leaving this question up until I get an answer. Who is the man in Ithilien in TTT who tells Faramir his life will be forfeit and who is killed when the Orcs attack by boat? What's his name?? Anyone, Bueller, anyone? Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-09-04--"That's nice! Ash on my tomatoes!" I love closed captioning. If I don't catch the words, I can read them. All my quotes are from memory, I remember better having the text visible. It's all good. Let's see. Site updates: NEW Languages, Globes and More LOTR Links. I am fascinated with the languages in LOTR, I'm gathering phrases to put here and to learn. It's tough without a dialog coach, I only have the movies to go on for the sound of the words. Maybe someone at The Fellowship of the Obsessors Forum has an interest in languages too, I'll have to check. Right now, I speak english, spanish and use American Sign Language. (ASL, I have many deaf friends.) Learning elvish phrases is not the same thing, I'd need to learn syntax and conjugations. But it's something to do as I love research. I'm leaving this question up until I get an answer. Who is the man in Ithilien in TTT who tells Faramir his life will be forfeit and who is killed when the Orcs attack by boat? What's his name?? Anyone, Bueller, anyone? Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-08-04--Questions that need answering Ah, life is good. My friend loaned me her copy of TTT so I can finally watch one of the films in it's entirety! I'm watching the breach of the deeping wall as I type. *happy sigh* I do have some ponderings for anyone in the know. ^_^ Who is the man in Ithilien in TTT who tells Faramir his life will be forfeit and who is killed when the Orcs attack by boat? What's his name?? Anyone, Bueller, anyone? Does Hama die when Rohan's people are attacked by Warg riders? In ROTK, why do the Gondorians call Gandalf the White "Mithrandir"? What does it mean? Any answers are appreciated. :P Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-07-04--from tuckborough.net--"At dawn on March 15, the Rohirrim rode into battle on the Pelennor Fields. Eowyn left her place in Elfhelm's eored and rode with the King's company, remaining near Theoden through the charge. Suddenly the Witch-king of Angmar, Lord of the Ringwraiths, descended onto the field mounted on a Fell Beast. Windfola threw Eowyn and Merry in terror. When she saw that Theoden had been crushed under his own horse, Eowyn wept for she had loved him like a father and she confronted the Witch-king. 'Begone, foul dwimmerlaik, lord of carrion! Leave the dead in peace!' A cold voice answered: 'Come not between the Nazgul and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the Lidless Eye.' A sword rang as it was drawn. 'Do what you will; but I will hinder it, if I may.' 'Hinder me? Thou fool. No living man may hinder me!' Then Merry heard of all sounds in that hour the strangest. It seemed that Dernhelm laughed, and the clear voice was like the ring of steel. 'But no living man am I! You look upon a woman. Eowyn I am, Eomund's daughter. You stand between me and my lord and kin. Begone, if you be not deathless! For living or dark undead, I will smite you, if you touch him.' The Return of the King: 'The Battle of the Pelennor Fields,' p. 116 The Fell Beast shrieked and struck at her, but Eowyn stood her ground and she beheaded the evil creature with one swift and skillful stroke. The Witch-king shattered her shield and her shield-arm with his mace and she fell to her knees. The Witch-king prepared to deliver the death blow, but then Merry pierced the sinew of the Ringwraith's knee with his sword of Westernesse, causing the Witch-king to stumble. Eowyn summoned her strength and thrust her sword into the space between his crown and mantle, and the Witch-king was vanquished. His robes fell empty to the ground and his spirit passed away with a shrill wail. Thus it was that Eowyn fulfilled a 1,000-year-old prophecy spoken by the Elf-lord Glorfindel that the Witch-king would not fall by the hand of man." I guess if someone isn't familiar with the books, they wouldn't know this. And from what I gather, not many people I know offline have read the books. How sad for them. Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-06-04--This music makes me want to see "Interview With the Vampire" again. That's the last movie (besides Harry Potter of course), that grabbed my soul the same way as the LOTR movies. This music is so haunting, I can pause and get lost in it. I have to get the soundtrack for all 3 films, this music is just too incredibly beautiful for words. There is some music in "Interview" like this. I could throw in a viewing between ROTK and FOTR. I watch them in sequence over and over. Yes, I know, I've got it bad. *cough* I could get into "Interview" though, as it has that same haunting but more melancholy feel to it. And Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas are incredibly easy on the eyes. ^_^ Love, luck and LOTR! |
12-04-04--Oy, my TTT dvd is messed up, courtesy of my old dvd player which died last month. It keeps skipping scenes or freezes up entirely and I have to restart it by jumping to the next scene. I'm using a PS2 to watch my movies, Gandalf knows when I'll be able to afford a new dvd player. Maybe if I cross my fingers and toes really hard someone will get me one for Christmas. One can only hope. Ok, gotta restart TTT again. It skipped from scene 37 "Where Is the Horse and the Rider?" to scene 40 "Old Entish". Phooey! I missed the breach of the deeping wall! The Battle scenes are so intense, if those were real, how would these guys have the strength? Gandalf, Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli are mighty warriors who never fade, seldom tire, and beat the bejessuz out of anyone who fights against them. Plus they are noble. Gad, I wish I had access to the books. I read snippets online but I want my own copies to add to my library. I want to reread them all including The Hobbit. The movies actually made some things clearer in my mind. I had a hard time picturing the Ents and the concept of Middle Earth when I first read the books. I understand much more but also realize the movies had to leave out so much detail. It's the same as the Harry Potter books, so much detail must be left out and just the best parts culled for the movies. Eomer & Gandalf just showed up at Helm's Deep so I'm off to watch. Love, luck and LOTR! :P |
12-03-04--Greetings fellow Hobbits and assorted guests. I'm sitting here watching TFOTR for the umpteenth time waiting for the first instance the scream they use in all 3 movies occurs. In TTT, it's when a soldier is falling off the deeping wall at Helm's Deep. In ROTK, it's used when Legolas pulls a Harradium off an oliphaunt. I want to find it in the first movie, it's my mission for today. :P I swear I would make the perfect Hobbit! I love fireworks, I have long black curly hair, I'm short, a tad plump, I love to read and write, need I say more? Maybe I will. lol I love green and green grass and I would find the circles of a Hobbit hole most cozy and soothing. I could live in the Shire most happily, tending to the plants and animals. I'd love to talk to Gandalf and Frodo and the others. I'm besotted with the characters, not the actors per say. Though there are many fine looking men in the trilogy. Be still my heart. (Aragorn, Boromir, Faramir, Eomer, Legolas, Frodo and Pippin.) Yummy. Onward. I had fun with the random quote script, there are 67 quotes, by golly. It changes with each refresh of the page, to have something different everytime you visit. The script on Characters isn't as large, I don't know if that helps on loading time or not. I am a spoiled brat with a broadband connection, so pages load in milliseconds for me. lol I forget most of you are on dial up. I'll try to keep it simple, let me know if the loading time for the site is reasonable. I'm working on an 800x600 version of this site, but I keep getting distracted. :P Both are graphic intense I guess, but in a good way! Aragorn's first scene! Gotta go! |
